The Heart Behind the Harvest

Seed Time Harvest was born from a grandmother's trip to Uganda, refined through years of service in Kyrgyzstan, and planted permanently in the soil of Tanzania. This is the story of a calling that wouldn't let go.

Why We Confess the Apostles' Creed

At Seed Time Harvest, our mission is rooted in the unchanging truth of God's Word. While we come from different backgrounds and experiences, we are united by the historic Christian faith that has been faithfully proclaimed by believers for nearly two thousand years.

The Apostles' Creed is one of the oldest and most widely accepted summaries of that faith. Though it was not written by the apostles themselves, it faithfully reflects the teachings they received from Jesus Christ and proclaimed throughout the world. For centuries, Christians have confessed these words together as a testimony of their belief in the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — and in the saving work of Jesus Christ.

By including the Apostles' Creed, we are not adding to Scripture, but joyfully affirming the biblical truths upon which our ministry is founded. It is a declaration of the faith we proclaim, the hope we share, and the Savior we serve.

Whether worshipping beneath a baobab tree in Tanzania or gathering in churches and homes around the world, we stand together with believers across generations in confessing:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

How God Led One Woman Halfway Around the World

Cheryl Ann Kruckemeyer had spent 40 years building, leading, and transforming — healthcare companies, educational programs, and professional partnerships across the United States. She had done what most would call a full life's work. And then God asked for more.

"In due season we will reap, if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

Timeline

The Seed Is Planted — Uganda

It began with her grandson. On a trip to Uganda, Cheryl helped lead a Vacation Bible School in a remote village outside of Kampala. The faith, joy, and need of the children there ignited something she couldn't name yet — a calling that would take years to fully come into focus.

The Calling Deepens — Kyrgyzstan

In response to that stirring, Cheryl served with LCMS International Mission in Kyrgyzstan — teaching English as a Second Language and providing homeschool instruction for missionary children. She returned to the United States not with answers, but with a hunger to keep going.

Tanzania — 2020

In 2020, God opened a door she hadn't expected: Mwadui Lutheran Secondary School in the Shinyanga Region of Tanzania. Cheryl moved to Tanzania to teach English — and to follow the thread that had started in Uganda. What she found was a community of young people hungry for more than academic instruction. She began leading weekly group counseling sessions with more than 350 students, using Scripture to speak into the places where family pain, absent fathers, and an uncertain future had left deep wounds. She established a basketball program that opened the door to conversation, mentorship, and Gospel seeds that are still bearing fruit. "Today, most young men from the basketball program remain actively involved in their churches — through ministry, choir leadership, and teaching Bible stories to children."

A Church Is Born — 2022

For six months beginning in January 2020, worship services were held under the shade of a large baobab tree on the edge of Mwadui — no building, no stage, just the Word and the Spirit. Attendance grew to nearly 95 people every Sunday. In 2022, with the blessing of local church leaders, Tree of Life Lutheran Church was constructed. Today it is a vibrant congregation serving students, families, and the surrounding community — a church that began under a tree and now fills a building.

Back to Tanzania — Healthcare, 2023–2025

Bishop Nzelu called Cheryl back in 2023 — this time to manage the KKKT Lutheran Dispensary in Shinyanga. The facility needed more than medical care. It needed operational stability, financial sustainability, and a Christ-centered culture of compassionate service. Over two years, Cheryl strengthened the clinic's operations, improved laboratory capabilities, modernized recordkeeping, built a pharmacy inventory system, and trained local staff in patient-centered, prayerful care. The dispensary moved toward financial sustainability — and the community took notice.

The Vision Grows — A Hospital

But the need is bigger than a dispensary can answer. The Shinyanga Region — home to more than 2.2 million people — has no adequate facility for serious illness, surgery, or specialty care. Women travel hours in labor. Children die from treatable conditions. In partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (SELVD Diocese) — which has provided the land — Seed Time Harvest is now raising funds to build a full-service polyclinic and specialty hospital. The project budget is $988,668. The vision is already in motion.

"Every step forward has been the result of God's faithfulness. Looking back, I am reminded again and again that He has been present in every open door, every hard season, and every harvest we've seen." — Cheryl Kruckemeyer, Founder & President, Seed Time Harvest
